The first GTK Gliwice performance in the Alpe Adria Cup proved to be extremely effective. Paweł Turkiewicz's players won with KK Šenčur 98:80 and took the lead in Group D. The best scorer in the home team was Damonte Dodd, who reached 18 points.

Gliwice began the first match in European cups without complexes. From the beginning they defended well and thanks to the aimless throws of the opponent they had a lot of opportunities for fast breaks. These were easily exchanged for points and their advantage grew rapidly from the very beginning. After a good throw behind the arc of Kacper Radwański's the result was already 17:6, but for GTK basketball players it was still not enough. The cooperation between the point guards and Damonte Dodd looked pretty well, and when the American center received the ball in the paint, he had no problems with placing it in the basket. After his impressive slam dunk it was already 25:9. Marko Popadić, who scored two three point shots, tried to make up for losses, but at the end of the quarter Riley LaChance (32:19) shot also from a distance.

After resuming the game, the guests began to make up for losses, but when Dodd and Marek Piechowicz came back to the court, the situation again became comfortable for GTK. After a spectacular action, in which Myles Mack finished after a long pass from his own half, the Gliwice jumped on 20 points of difference (52:32). Even before the break the guests managed to reduce some of the losses (57:41).

After the break GTK started from the 7:0 series, but the guest coach reacted quickly. After a time on demand, his players significantly improved their performance and the next fragment of the match was much better for them. After the 12:2 series, they reduced losses up to 11 points (66:55). The hosts, specifically LaChance, did not allow them to do more. The American shooting guard scored six points in a short time, and hit behind the arc at the end of the third quarter, what gave 17 points of lead for Gliwice (75:58).

Encouraged GTK players also provided their good shape in the last part of the game. Aiming was adjusted by Brian Dawkins, who began to present a wide repertoire of plays in the offensive. After one of his actions, it was already 90:59 and there was a huge difference. At this moment, coach Paweł Turkiewicz made some substitions and the youngest players came on floor. It was used by the visitors who rushed to reduce losses. In the end, they managed to make up 13 points and the Gliwice players won the first match in the Alpe Adria Cup 98:80.

This coming Sunday, GTK will play again on its own floor. This time, as part of the Energa Basket Liga game, MKS Dąbrowa Górnicza will be the opponent.
